As the developer of a system, I need access to debug, data viewer,
define database etc. But I also feel the need to limit my ability to
delete certain records in certain circumstances. So what I would
really like is to have a "Developer" privilege set, which has full
access to the developer tools, etc., but also some custom privs on
records. From what I've read so far, it doesn't seem possible. Have
I missed something?

Thanks,

Carla.

It's like running a home computer: you have a user with full access, but
you must not use it for normal work.

I switch users when I need to define the database or edit a script with
full access privileges. From FMP 7 (maybe Cool, you can use a script step
to re-login, so you don't need to close and re-open the file.

My main tool is the custom menu in FMP 8 Advanced. In favourite custom
menu, the import, create, duplicate and delete record functions are
deactivated or redirected to scripts.
