I've used MSDE in the past, and it always included an application to create
and edit databases. I've recently installed its successor (?), SQL Server
Express (Beta), which came with C++ Express 2005 Beta, but I can't find a way
to create a database or do anything with the server except turn it on and off.

Is there documentation out there somewhere?

There is an short version of Books Online for this product at the sql
express download site (at labs.msdn.microsoft.com). There will be a
management tool (Express Manager) soon.

That is correct. Express Manager will be out soon. In the meantime, you
can create databases in SQL Express by using OSQL.exe and executing T-SQL
commands or connecting to SQL Express using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
and creating a database project.

Please reply only to the newsgroup so that others can benefit. When posting,
please state the version of SQL Server being used and the error number/exact
error message text received, if any.
