Post subject: SQL2005 error trying to install Sampel databases

Hi All

I successfuly installed SQL 2005, then I tryed to add the sample databases.
by running the original setup file.

I get below error, wich don't tell me anything. Hoe do I solve this?

"None of the selected features can be installed or upgraded. Setup cannot
proceed since no effective change is being made to the machine. To continue,
click Back and then select features to install. To exit SQL Server Setup,
click Cancel.

It's probably easier just to install AdventureWorks from Codeplex. See
http://www.codeplex.com/MSFTDBProdSamples/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx...leaseId
Use the first download link (AdventureWorksDB.msi). I believe you need to
attach the database after the download is complete. See the readme that
comes with the downloaded files.

Hi Andersen,

the SQL Server will generate this error when it finds that nothing in the
options you select at the beginning of the installation has been changed, so
most probably the sample database is installed already , but the SQL Server
doesn't install database samples by defualt you have to click on advance
button when you are on the components to install window in the SQL Server
Installation to be able to select the database sample, are you doing this or
not?

Follow the following steps:
- Control Panel -> Add\Remove Programs
- Find Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and click CHANGE button.
- Choose Workstation Components and proceed.
- Click "Change Installed Components" button and expand "Documentation,
Samples and Sample Databases" node. Click on "Sample Databases" button and
choose "Entire feature will be installed..." item and proceed.
