Build 2187 is a cummulative hotfix package. My understanding of this is that
it contains all hotfixes post SP4 up to the point of the package release
(basically up through build 2185). I am seeing, though, the following
statement on every hotfix write-up post SP4: "Because the fixes are
cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security
fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release." In
addition, there doesn't appear to be any "cummulative packages" after 2187.

Are the individual hotfixes cummulative or not? If so, what is the
significance/difference between 2187 and any other hotfix. Basically, I want
to get my entire 2000 environment up to the latest patch (or at least have
them available in case needed) before 2000 support ends next year with the
hopes of getting them upgraded to 2005 or 2008 sooner rather than later.
