Post subject: Moving from sql2005 standalone to sql2005 cluster
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>sqlserver>clustering (more info?)

Hello I must migrate from a single server standalone installation to a
sql2005 cluster istance with one node cluster.I must perforn this upgrade on
the same server.
Sql2005 don't' support the single server to cluster upgrade (when sql2000
yes).
What'is the best pratice to do my job?
I think I can stop the sql2005 single server standalone and copy all database.
I must uninstall the old sql2005 installation.
I must rename the server name and change ip address, because I want to
configure th new virtual server with the same name and the same ip of the
standalone sql2005.
After this I install the cluster server on the first node.
After this I must install sql2005 failover clustered.
My question now is:
I must attacch only the old user database or also the old system
database(masterdb,msdb,nodel)?
Thanks
