Hello,
I've a Windows 2003 x64 cluster with SQL Server Standard 2005 with 2
instances (Active/Active), Each node has 8 GB RAM, Max Memory parameter
has default value (2147483647).

We're going to upgrade RAM to 16 GB on each node. What is the best
configuration for Max Memory (with either 8 and 16 GB)?

Thanks in advance

You have to consider that at some point both instances will be running on 1
node and will have to share the total memory between them. So you might want
to set MAX Memory in each instance such that the combined total is about 7
or 14GB depending on the total. You need to determine which instance needs
more or less than the other and set it accordingly.

And of course you need to consider the memory needs of other
applications -if there is any on that server.
