On Query Run, the Answer instead of being fields and records is just a gray
band left to right, covering about half of the screen--? (Paradox 8, Windows
SE)

Is there an answer.tv file in your pribate directory? If there is, delete
it.

There is no answer.tv in the PRIV: folder. [The machine with the Pdox data
base is in another building and not Online or networked; going there slows
my responses.] The gray band problem is still there; I've done the Query
Run numerous times, and always get the gray band, no rows or columns.

The Query strip has First Name, Last Name, Company, and so on to Zip code--a
check mark in each field box. Then, when I click on Query Run I get the
the gray band, not records, though the Field names show.

Are you entering any criteria to limit the records returned?

If so, drop ALL criteria and run the query. Do you get any different
result?

Delbert, your latest comment leads me to the same conclusion as Tony's..
sounds like a query where the parameters leave you with an empty answer
table.. or a query of a table that was empty to start with..

apparent & freely accessible.. it's a mystery to me why all this should come
up "empty." The selection I'm making from the database is for people who
get the bulletin, about 110 records.. There is a field named bul (for bulletin)
in which, at the query level, is a "b".. any record with a "b" in the bul

OK.. pull up the query form.. hit the CHECK thing.. no "b" or any other
parameter.. execute the query.. do you get ALL of the records in the answer?

if so.. now go back to the query form.. type in exactly what I'm putting on
the next line

b or B

that'll capture capital B and small b.. execute the query.. do you get ALL
of the records with a B or b in the answer?

Delbert

a) What happens if you open any table? Do you see any records or just a grey
band?

b) When you run a query and create an answer table, the Paradox statusbar
says Record 1 of 55 (number of records selected). What do you see on the
statusbar?

a) I see all the records in the table, the latest count being 319. No gray
bar.

b)I After filling in the checks on the Query bar and doing a Query Run I
see " 0 records" (zero records) on the status bar. When it's working right
it says 1 of about 115 records, 115 being the number of people getting a
bulletin, that is, the number of mailing labels being made to send out the
monthly bulletin. Evidently the way I do the Query doesn't order up any
records at all. In a previous post I told how I thought I was covering
all the bases for getting records. Guess I was wrong.
