Post subject: Check for connection

Hi I want to check if a server is available - at present the system just
gives a message then bombs out - I want to be able to redirect to another
server if the software cannot find the initial connection string

Can you please help!!

If you have SP2 installed with SS2K5 you can specify a Failover server.
There are ways to see if a SQL Server Instance is running using the factory
classes. (DBProviderFactory etc...)
