Hello Everyone,

Since I'm in the process of decommissioning my production SQL 2000 server
and bring up a clustered two node system (Windows 2003 R2, SQL 2005), I would
like to preserve the instance (it was default) name on the old production
server and use it in the new cluster. Right now, the cluster has a temporary
name. Is it just a matter of modifying the Network Name resource under the
SQL group in cluster administrator?

Thank you
Alex Anderson

No. You cannot rename a SQL virtual instance. I would use a DNS entry to
redirect from the old name to the new host computer.
