I have just installed analysis services and I am going thourgh the tutorial,
Quick Start. I followed the dirctions but after I make the first dimension it
will not let me preview the dimension it says "Unable to browse the Dimension
"New Dimension" Unspecified error" in the preview window. I went ahead and
made the rest but they all said the same thing. Also it would not let me
browse the cube data after I made the dimensions. I thought it might be the
connection but it is showing me the tables and columns from the database
though.

I started over and now the error message in the preview window says there is
a error with the provider and the provider may not be installed properly.
Should I unistall Analysis Services and reinstall or is there something else
check first.

Have your processed the cube?
If not,try processing the entire database and on Browser click Reconnect.

I tried but it keeps giving me the same error message. That the provider may
not be installed right. How would I go about cheking that or reinstalling
that?

I suspect that you might have installed Analysis Services on a server
set up as a Win 2000 Domain Controller. To my little knowledge, you are
not supposed to run analysis services on a domain controller.

I have faced similar problems long ago, and then I reinstalled Win 2K
Server & just skipped the server configuration and then proceeded to
install SQL 2K and AS. Then I was able to browse my cube and dimension
data without any problems.

Hope this helps.
